24 August 2019Notice of Natural England’s Coastal Access Report

On Thursday 25th July 2019 Natural England submitted a compendium of coastal access reports to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs under section 51 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 pursuant to its duty under section 296(1) of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009. The reports relate to the coast between Aust to Brean Down.

If the proposals in the report are approved in their current form by the Secretary of State, the public will be able to exercise rights of access under section 2(1) of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 for open-air recreation on foot along the English coastal route as set out in the report and over the area of associated coastal margin. These rights are subject to any exceptions (for example gardens) or restrictions set out in that Act or proposed in the reports (once approved).
