There are a number of schemes and groups who have been undertaking the recycling of previously loved laptops for pupils who have no access to one.
Schools are ordering new machines directly from the Department for Education and county IT and education workers have been supporting individual school’s requests for support.
Somerset County Council has not ventured into the recycling space as it does not have the resources or policies to be able to certify data removal/safeguarding.
Individuals or businesses who wish to help are directed to one of the organised schemes or to discuss with their local schools as to what might be useful beyond the DfE scheme.
